i would have the car thoroughly inspected / reviewed at a toyota dealership and maybe an independent reputable car repair shop prior to purchase. price complete servicing while you are there (mileage service, all fluids and filters, and repairs needed).
with my experience looking for a similar vehicle in texas, you may want to reconsider year of production and price range. your demands are very high for such a high demand vehicle. have you consider financing a vehicle in the 7000-9000 price range and using your cash as downpayment and for initial maintenance and servicing? best with your search michael

I need a small truck for college and i know that tacomas are generally the best in the small truck class. However i can’t probably pay more than 3000 for one since i need my money for other stuff. I was looking to buy a 93-95 tacoma and then me and my friend would rebuild the engine so that it would last me through college.

A: All of the Tacoma seats are interchangeable. You can bolt in the bench, split bench or bucket seats from any Tacoma into another from 1997 to 2000.

I also had a 1982 4by4 with a 4″ inch lift and 36″ tires that pullled 15 yard dump trucks out of mud being a contractor with a 125 hpo 22r 4 cykinder with 135lb’s of torque. Also the Xtra cab 5 spd 6 cylinder is the fastest car Toyota ever sold stock to Public From 1997 -1999 when they stopped 6 Cylinder and put in xtra cab Pre-Runner.

A: The mileage. Since they shifted away from the 22R engine, Toyota’s trucks, especially the 4×4, have really hit the owners at the pumps.
Aside from that, nothing that I’ve heard of – the Camry may have become less than stellar of late, but the trucks are still solid.
Be really, really sure you need 4×4 and the crew cab. That’s an awful lot of capability you’re going to pay for at the pump every time you fill up, whether you’re using those extra seats and drive wheels, or not.

I’m considering to buy a used Toyota Tacoma, from years 2000 or newer, with the extended/extra cab. There is a rear fold-down for placing baby/child seats, but I’m not sure how well that works. Anyone here have a Tacoma Ext Cab with a child safety seat installed forward facing? Is there enough room back there to actually have one secured? How safe is it? What year/model Tacoma do you have? What brand/model seat did you use? Any pictures? What is your opinion from your experience?
If it won’t work in the Ext Cab, I guess I’ll have to get a double cab. What year did they start making the double cab in the Tacoma?

A: My dad has a car seat in his truck (2006 Toyota Tacoma) Not sure what extended cab means but it doesn’t have an actual back seat. It’s the kind that fold down from the side.
The car seat fits fine in his truck. I don’t have any photos of it but he takes my nephew on road trips to Cali all the time and has never had a problem.
