Q: I just bought a used 2002 Honda Odyssey and the CD player quits playing after the 6th track.?
My dad has a 2001 Honda Odyssey and says his CD player does the same thing. Should I complain to Honda or just replace it? Any ideas how difficult and the price to replace it?
A: Try to play another CD. If it doesn’t work go to your dealer but they’ll most likly tell you that it’s not under the warranty so you’ll have replace it on your which will be some where betweem $150. to $500.
Good Luck!
Q: Would you buy an used Ford Explorer over Honda Odyssey?
I need a minivan desperately. I am thinking of all options… Used Sienna, Odyssey, Explorer (more of SUV than minivan), Mazda5… Not sure which one do I prefer.
I am looking to keep the vehicle for a timeframe of 1.5 years.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks folks.
A: An Explorer is not a minivan at all, it’s a truck based SUV – not even remotely comparable to an Odyssey or Sienna. It doesn’t have nearly as much room as either. The upside of an explorer is you can buy used ones cheap, but they don’t get as good gas mileage as an Odyssey. The Mazda5 is a minivan, but much smaller and less roomy, and you probably won’t find many used since they haven’t been around long. If they are big enough for you, they are better on gas because of the smaller size and four cylinder engine (try to find one with a stick).
The Odyssey is probably the best minivan out there (close second to the Sienna), but if you’re just looking for a relatively short term, you can get a used Ford Windstar/Freestar for a lot less. They aren’t as roomy inside, but still roomier than the Explorer or Mazda5, and are pretty durable.
Hope this helps you
Q: Buying a used Honda Odyssey – advice, please!?
We’ve found a 2000 Honda Odyssey with 275,000 miles on it. They’re asking $2,700 for it. Is that a reasonable deal? Is there likely to be problems in the near future with it having so many miles on it? Any advice or input would be very much appreciated.
A: Don’t do it those 2,700 they goin to the garbage that car have to many miles is goin to break down any second trust me I work for the Honda dealer I see this Odyssey all the time….

Q: Can I take a used 2003 Honda van to be inspected for recalls?
I recently bought a used 2003 Honda Odyssey EX, but I’m concerned about that year having so many recalls. It seems to work fine for now. It has 99,000 miles on it and usually when people noticed any problems they had 100,000-150,000 miles on it. Will a Honda dealership inspect it and replace parts that are recalled if needed at no cost to me even though I’m the second owner?
A: Go to Honda Dealer with vehicle, they can check vin # and give you a list of recalls issued on your vehicle, they should also be able to check records for any recall already done. Have friend with 2005 Odyssey they replaced his auto trans for free last year, slipping. Also you’re due for timing belt, etc. replacement, routine repair.
Q: want to buy used mini van. 2004 honda odyssey w/50k or 2007 dodge cara. w/5k? honda more reliable?
I have 2 kids, love the folding rear seat of honda, but not the miles. like stow and go seating in grand caravans, but feel like they’re not well made. I was told to go for the honda, because they’re supposed to be more reliable, but I don’t like all the miles on it. Any ideas?
A: See the answers and disagree, your problem with this question is everyone will give you an oppinion. Mine is that Dodge is garbage. I have, as well as my friends and family, NEVER had a reliable Dodge vehicle. Dodge has GARBAGE transmissions, and they usually get engine noise within a few years. Not to mention the fact that this multibillion dollar company still can’t figure out how to get their paint to stick.
As for Honda, I’ve only had a few, but they were old with tons of miles, so I trust them. Your best bet is to look up online, see what people say about both vehicles. Look at blue-book values on older versions of each, I will venture a guess that the Honda holds it’s value far better than Dodge.
Honestly, I don’t know anyone with a Dodge that hasn’t been forced to get rid of it within a few years because of the problems they started to have.
Q: 99 Honda CR-V, 99 Honda Odyssey Minivan, 02 Subaru Forrester used car purchase and gas mileage?
I am considering purchasing one of these used cars:
99 Honda CR-V EX 102 k miles asking: $7995
99 Honda Odyssey 100 k miles asking: $8250
02 Subaru Forrester: 77 k miles asking: $8990
Anyone own these cars and/or know the gas mileage they get.
99 Honda CR-V claims 22/25 city/hwy
99 Honda Odyssey claims 18/26 city/hwy
02 Subaru Forrester claims 22/27 city/hwy
A: these prices seem a high.
the 02 Subaru sells for $8.000 to $10K
appears to be the better deal.
99 Honda Crv should be more like $6,000
99 Honda Odyssey more like $8,000
2002
Occasional problems on this vehicle are failures of the Catalytic Converter, Air Fuel Ratio Sensor and Knock Sensor. An additional problem is failure of the Cylinder Head Gaskets. Problems with the Catalytic Converter and Knock Sensor will cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate. Problems with the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor can cause drivability issues and may also cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate, in some cases the Engine Control Module (ECM) may need to be reprogrammed as well. Cylinder Head Gasket failure can cause a engine coolant leak and may also cause the engine to overheat. The cost to replace the Catalytic Converter is estimated at $925.45 for parts and $130.00 for labor. The cost to replace the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor is estimated at $149.95 for parts and $45.50 for labor. The cost to reprogram the ECM is estimated at $97.50 for labor. The cost to replace the Knock Sensor is estimated at $97.00 for parts and $65.00 for labor. The cost to replace the Cylinder Head Gaskets is estimated at $75.00 for parts and $520.00 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65.00 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.

Q: Does the 2006 Honda Odyssey use a rubber or chain timing belt?
I also wanted to know if the 2006 Nissan Quest uses either a rubber or chain timing belt?? Thank you for your help ..
A: It uses a timing belt which MUST be changed at proper intervals. It is an interference engine(meaning the valves and pistons share a common amount of space simultaneously.) If the belt fails, the engine will be damaged.
Q: Recommendations on a 2007 Honda Odyssey Warranty?
I am considering getting an extended warranty for my 2007 Honda Odyssey. Has anyone used the Honda Care warranty before? Do they pay up if things go wrong or do they try to wiggle their way out and play the “this is not covered” game.
Can you please share your experiences.
A: I have had extended new car warranties in the past and have had minor dealer warranty work done in the past and have encountered no problems.
Q: 2003 Honda Odyssey radiator draincock location?
I bought a used 2003 Honda Odyssey EX and tried to change the radiator coolant by myself because the test shows it is not good. I jacked the van up and looked for a draincock under the radiator, but nowhere I could find it. Someone suggested that I should remove the undercover, so I did it, but still I could not find anything like that. Can anyone help me find the Honda Odyssey radiator draincock?
A: There should be a plastic skirt covering the bottom of the radiator. On that skirt is a square panel about 4″x4″. Pry that open and the draincock is there.
1- with car running set the heaters to maxium heat then turn off the car.
2-remove the radiator cap
3- open the draincock
4-You need to open the drainbolt on the side of the engine near the rear of the engine.
5-after the coolant stops coming out here is the refill instructions.
Engine Coolant Refill Capacity [including the reservoir capacity of 0.6 L (0.06 US qt., 0.5 Imp qt) ]
Without rear A/C: 5.5 L (5.8 US qt., 4.8 Imp qt.)
With rear A/C: 7.5 L (7.9 US qt., 6.6 Imp qt.)
-Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm until it warms up (the radiator fan comes on at twice). Make sure the thermostat is open. Turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to minimum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 5 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to maximum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 5 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to minimum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 3 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to maximum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 3 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Repeat above steps until the coolant level dose not change in the radiator, then install the radiator cap loosely.
Set the temperature control dial to minimum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for 1 minute.
-Turn heat to maximum and run for 2-3 minutes. Ensure you do not hear coolant running through the heater or engine. if you do you must repeat the above steps again.
These steps must be perormed as stated to prevent air pockets that can cause steam build up which can cause overheating and engine damage.
Good luck
Q: Where can I get the manual for the 2007 Honda Odyssey Nav System?
I bought a used Odyssey and don’t have instructions for the Nav System.
A: Here is a PDF file (7.7Mb size) for your ‘07 Odyssey. This is the 138-page Navigation Manual. If you have trouble actually downloading it to your computer just tell me. I will check back to see if you have any problems.
http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/Honda/HONDA%202007%20Odyssey%20Navigation%20Manual%20(unlinked).pdf (*notice this is “unlinked”, which means that you must browse manually, and the first-page menu is non-clickable, if that makes sense)
Below is a possibly better link, because not only is this “linked” on the first pages, but if you see the top, it also has a link to the full Owner’s Manual in case you need that too.

Hope that helps!
Q: honda odyssey exl navigation system?
we just bought a used honda odyssey exl and we want to reset the navigation or at least input our home address and add to the address book ourselves.
but we can’t seem to figure out how to do so
does anyone know how to do this or somewhere we could look to figure this out? we already checked our owers manual and video.
A: You can enter your address, under “where to”, just set it as home.
Q: own a 2001 Honda odyssey van, transmission out. complete repair $2200 w/used trans is this good 4 Hawaii?
Are there any other considerations in requesting repair? The van has 155,000 miles.
A: I been in the business a long time and that seems high for a used transmission installed. I would call two or three shops and get ball park prices for a rebuild, at least in Az you could get a rebuild for 2500-2800 so I would personally spend a little more and get a rebuilt one, make sure you get at least 1 year 12,000 mile warranty parts and labor or go somewhere else.
