Q: I am trying to find a used (toyota tacoma) ext cab truck not a tundra, sorry all i had a typo?
I am trying to find a used toyota tacoma ext cab truck?
i am very interested in buying a small truck under $4,000 prefferably a toyota tacoma,
that is in good condition and not to high of miles and that runs good and won’t give me any problems.so anyone out there that lives in minnesota between elk river an milaca i would be very appreciated if you would answer this thankyou.

A: i apologize in advance if this information is not useful.

i would have the car thoroughly inspected / reviewed at a toyota dealership and maybe an independent reputable car repair shop prior to purchase. price complete servicing while you are there (mileage service, all fluids and filters, and repairs needed).

with my experience looking for a similar vehicle in texas, you may want to reconsider year of production and price range. your demands are very high for such a high demand vehicle. have you consider financing a vehicle in the 7000-9000 price range and using your cash as downpayment and for initial maintenance and servicing? best with your search michael

Q: whats a good year for a used toyota tacoma?
I need a small truck for college and i know that tacomas are generally the best in the small truck class. However i can’t probably pay more than 3000 for one since i need my money for other stuff. I was looking to buy a 93-95 tacoma and then me and my friend would rebuild the engine so that it would last me through college.

But i would like to hear other ideas

A: sounds like a great idea!
the older it is, the easier it is to rebuild because of less complexities.
btw, any year for a tacoma is a good year.

Q: I want to buy a used Toyota tacoma truck where is a good place to search?

A: Autotrader is the best. Also check your local craigslist

Q: what other seat can be used for a 1998 toyota tacoma splt bench?
If you dont know the answer, can anyone tell me where I can buy a new or used seat for the above?

A: All of the Tacoma seats are interchangeable. You can bolt in the bench, split bench or bucket seats from any Tacoma into another from 1997 to 2000.

Q: Is a used 1998 Toyota Tacoma a good truck to buy?

A: Ecellent truck with 2 engines. A 147 hp and 158lbs of torque 4 and a 3.4 V6 which is overkill. They last 4 -ever and last, at least mine I sold at 397,000 miles, and here that all the time. I also had a 1982 4by4 with a 4″ inch lift and 36″ tires that pullled 15 yard dump trucks out of mud being a contractor with a 125 hpo 22r 4 cykinder with 135lb’s of torque. Also the Xtra cab 5 spd 6 cylinder is the fastest car Toyota ever sold stock to Public From 1997 -1999 when they stopped 6 Cylinder and put in xtra cab Pre-Runner.

Q: how much is a Toyota Tacoma used in good condition?

A: Right now all you have to do is offer a few bucks due to Toyota’s current quality problems and the fact that they admitted the The United States Congress that the problems will not be totally fixed. Watch them admit it to Congress here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13fOhim3Eeo&feature=player_embedded

Q: i want to buy a used car, its between a toyota tacoma or dodge charger?
but i want to know which would be cheaper in up keep and maintenance, i know that toyotas are very reliable and im leaning more towards the tacoma, but what about the charger? is it as reliabe as the tacoma? and how expensive is up keep on the charger?

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for cars before buying one, for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: Where to find used/salvage parts for Toyota Tacoma in bay area (California)?
I need plastic trim and mud flaps for my 03 tacoma, but I don’t want to pay retail for NEW parts from the dealer. Does anyone know of salvage yard where I can go get the parts off a wreck by myself?
I am looking for yards in the bay area and people’s experience with them.
I know how to use google.

A: YOU CAN GO TO THE PLACES BUT THEY WILL NOT LET YOU TAKE OFF THE PART. THE PERSON THAT WORKS THERE HAS TO DO IT BUT YOU CAN GO IN THE YARD AND SAY YES OR NO IF YOU WANT THE PART OR TELL WITCH CAR YOU WANT IT OFF OF J. AND M. ENTERPRISE IN PITTSBURG, CA I DON’T LIKE THE OWNER BUT THEY HAVE GREAT PARTS AND PRICES

Q: Where can I find a used camper shell for my 2000 Toyota Tacoma truck std cab short bed?
I don’t have a lot of money that is why I prefer used. My truck is dark green. Are there any good websites out there that sells used camper shell?

A: you could always look on ebay for one really cheep take my advice cheep @ www.ebay.co.uk but you need to sign up to be a member

Q: Looking for a Toyota Tacoma crewcab 4×4 used. What should I be aware of?

A: The mileage. Since they shifted away from the 22R engine, Toyota’s trucks, especially the 4×4, have really hit the owners at the pumps.

Aside from that, nothing that I’ve heard of – the Camry may have become less than stellar of late, but the trucks are still solid.

Be really, really sure you need 4×4 and the crew cab. That’s an awful lot of capability you’re going to pay for at the pump every time you fill up, whether you’re using those extra seats and drive wheels, or not.

Q: what is the power button used for on a 1998 toyota tacoma extra cab?
its on the left side of the wheel

A: Usually the power/econ button on cars (and trucks) changes the points that the automatic transmission shifts its gears, in power mode the computer tells the trans to stay in each gear longer so you can have more power/acceleration.

Q: Anyone has child safety seat in a Toyota Tacoma Ext Cab?
I’m considering to buy a used Toyota Tacoma, from years 2000 or newer, with the extended/extra cab. There is a rear fold-down for placing baby/child seats, but I’m not sure how well that works. Anyone here have a Tacoma Ext Cab with a child safety seat installed forward facing? Is there enough room back there to actually have one secured? How safe is it? What year/model Tacoma do you have? What brand/model seat did you use? Any pictures? What is your opinion from your experience?

If it won’t work in the Ext Cab, I guess I’ll have to get a double cab. What year did they start making the double cab in the Tacoma?

Thanks.

A: My dad has a car seat in his truck (2006 Toyota Tacoma) Not sure what extended cab means but it doesn’t have an actual back seat. It’s the kind that fold down from the side.

The car seat fits fine in his truck. I don’t have any photos of it but he takes my nephew on road trips to Cali all the time and has never had a problem.

Q: Toyota Tacoma question?
What is the average price of a used 2002 used toyota tacoma.

A: It’s so funny how people come up with a number when you didn’t give them nearly enough info. Try finding any 02 Tacoma for $6k! If you find any, let me know so I can buy a few.

How many miles?
Regular cab, access cab, or double cab?
4wd or 2wd?
TRD sport or offroad package?
4 or 6 cylinder?
locking differential?
stereo?
alloys?
moonroof?
steps?
brushguard?
etc., etc.

Q: how much do one of them purty 2001 toyota tacoma double cabs run for used?
I have loved tacomas forever and always dreamed of getting one, and was wondering how much a double cab might be compared to a single anyone know about how much there runnin for used?

A: check ebaymotors to get an idea also check carmax.com

Q: Where can I find a good, used camper shell for a 2000 Toyota Tacoma SR5 in Houston, Texas?

A: try craigslist.org… its where people sell there used stuff, go there go to pick your city and look underthe auto part, you can also put in your wants… and if someone sees it theyll contact you via, email..heres the link

Q: does anyone have a website or know some one in fairbanks alaska that maybe selling a used camaro?
hi im looking for a used camaro that is in my price range wich is from 1000 to about 2.5 3000dollars? now im infairbanks alaska and i havent really noticed any camaros here if any one know where i can get one in alaska or some where else that would be cheap to ship to alaska please help me out thank you!

A: are you for real? I mean, hello, get your head out of the oven or where-ever you have it—-it’s called www.craigslist.com, duhhhhhhhhhh
click on your state and town…

double duhhhhhhh

Q: I just bought a used camaro 11 days ago and it died on me going down the road?
dealership mechanic says it needs the motor replaced. I bought this camaro because of the low mileage thinking it would be reliable so my question is are they allowed to put a used engine it my car that may have far more miles on it. (car is under warranty, they are responsible for 100% parts and labor on the engine drivetrain and state inspection items) 2002 Camaro V6 69,000 miles

A: Almost without question, they are allowed to put a used motor in it If they even honor the warranty in the first place. (Many do not)

And there is nothing you can say, do or legally demand. The replacement motor can have 246,000 miles on it and it doesn’t matter.

Q: How much will a used camaro concept 2010 cost in 2012?
I really want one when I’m 16 and am wondering How much to save up for it, I might be able to do a trade in but Love this care, can you guys help me out?

A: you mean a 2010 camaro? the camaro concept was prior to production and never sold as it was a CONCEPT..

NADAs prediction guide says the 2LT fully loaded v6 with 36,000 miles will still demand between $19,800 and $22,000 by the time the 2012 model year comes out

Q: How much will a used Camaro LS be worth in about a year?
Right now im seeing about 24,000 but will it go down any by next year?

A: lol why are you looking into buying this? i doubt you can even handle it….and it prolly will go down..

Q: The new alarm I put in my recently purchased used Camaro does not unlock the door !! Anyone have any ideas why
The only time it unlocks using the alarm fob is after I unlock it initially with a key. Only then will it lock and unlock using the alarm fob. After a while, it goes back to not unlocking itself, and I again have to manually unlock it. The car didnt come with a remoteless entry key fob when i bought it. Just two keys, one to lock and unlock doors and one to start car. Of course the alarm i had installed came with it and a kill switch.

A: sounds like bad wireing

Q: Can anybody give me info on the Camaro used in the movie Transformers?
I’m looking for information (year, make, model, etc.) on the yellow Camaro featured in the movie Transformers. Can anybody tell me more about this car? Thanks!

A: Yea, the Transformers movie camaro “bumblebee” was’nt even the prototype camaro.. it was a fiberglass camaro body built on an 06′ Pontiac GTO Chassis. The fuel top didnt move, the air conditioning didnt work and the gauges were just for show. However, the wheels in the back were 22″ and in the front, 21″. Bumblebee was assembled by Saleen. The car had the 2007 corvette z06 7.0 liter, 505hp v8 engine. It has been sold for aproximately 3.4 million dollars to a rich private owner who plans on showcasing the car at this years SEMA event.

Q: Looking for used used Camaro around $10,000 little work to be done if any?
Looking for a used Camero any where from $0 to $15,000, and if there is any work to be done on it i want to keep it under $3,000

A: Hi, Your best bet to find one at a cheap price would be at an auto auction. There are public auto auctions in every state, so you shouldn’t have to go too far to find one near you. I’ll give you a link to a site that has more info about auctions if you want to check it out.

Good Luck

Q: How much would is cost to insure a teen girl with a used Chevy Camaro?

A: About 3000 a year without discounts. But you could get discounts to for good grades, ect.

Q: how much does should a used stock air intake for a camaro cost?
the camaro that i bought recently came with a off brand piece of crap cold air intake(it was build realy cheap and wasnt taken care of very well) and i was wondering how much a good used one should cost?
it is a 1994 z-28

A: You should be able to pick one for $10-$15 from Pull-A-Part or your local junk yard if you can find one. I would sell you my old one but shipping would cost as much as getting one from a junkyard. Autozone also has Specture customizable intake parts where you can make your own cold air intake all for about $50.

Q: Buying a used 1987 camaro iroc z with no transmission GOOD or BAD?
I talked to the guy “he lives by me” and he said the original transmission went out but he has the new transmission ready to be put back in along with a B&M megashifter and a 2200 Stall. The body has no rust on it. What do you think?
Its going for $1200

A: I drove an 86 Iroc in 1986, and at the time it was a nice ride. I doubt that the 87 was much of an improvement. In any case, I would be surprised if this has been classified as a “classic”. If it is in the classic category, then it would be a good deal even without the trans installed. It does depend though, on whether there are any other major issues that are not so visible. I would find a GM mechanic with experience on that car who could give you a checklist of what to look for.

Q: What is the average price of a used 2010 camaro?
With 15000 miles or less. With the v8 as 420hp

A: Avg. 30-40 Grand. You might be able to get one just under 30.

HTH

Q: what kind of camaro was used for bumble bee in transformers?
Not the new version, when he copied that nice one, but how he looked at the start and just bought x]

A: Roughly 1974-77 Camaro. Basically, mid-late 70s.

If you had Googled “Bumblebee”…..you would have found all the info you could have possibly needed.

Q: What paint (codes) are used in the yellow camaro bumblebee in transformers?
A friend of mine wants to get the same type of paint job that they gave the camaro Bumblebee in the transformers movie(2007), but we cant find any kind of paint codes to give to the shop

A: Me too, Have you found anything yet??

Q: how much does a used steering column for an 89 camaro cost?
ive heard that it would be much cheaper and easier to just buy a used steering column for my 89 camaro instead of buying parts and repairing the one ive got…and id also kno were i could buy one so if you dont mind give me a link….thanks

A: www.car-part.com best prices near you

Q: 1979 used Camaro rally rims?
I currently have four 14×7 rally wheels off of a 1979 Camaro. These rims are referenced as color keyed rally rims that was an option in 1979 They are used but in good condition. What should I ask for them IF I were to sell them? I want to ask a fair market price. Any assistance would be appreciated.

A: Craigs list with pictures my guess would be 150.00 but dosen’t hurt to ask what you think and take a or best offer, sell high if you can OBO are magic words to someone in the market

Find great deals and more information about the Used Jeep Wrangler! At your favorite automotive site wheelsdirect2u.com

Q: i want to find a reliable used Jeep Wrangler?
I am trying to find a reliable used Jeep Wrangler 4 cylinder, 2 door, ranging from years 1997-2004. can anyone tell me about them as far as safety, reliability, miles per gallon, maitanence? I am not looking to buy one online but specifically find what year and model of wrangler would be the best bet. I know consumer reports puts bad reviews on the new 2008 wrangler and 2005 and 2007 wranglers were also put down as cars to avoid in consumer reports. the car i want in within the 1997-2004 range i believe. But i would like to talk to some Jeep Wrangler owners and have them tell me their thoughts on their vehicles. It is something i am planning to save up money for, but i want to have a good idea of what i want to buy when the time comes.

you can email me for more information or just ask on this answers site. thank you for your time!
i would be using the vehicle for daily driving and hopefully maintain it and give it enough TLC to keep it around for years to come!
I live in northern california. the weather is good here currently. I live in a good quiet neighborhood and our parking is up a driveway out of the street. i don’t have any cover or garage space to keep the vehicle when the weather is bad though. I thought of getting a hard top.
I live in northern california. the weather is good here currently. I live in a good quiet neighborhood and our parking is up a driveway out of the street. i don’t have any cover or garage space to keep the vehicle when the weather is bad though. I thought of getting a hard top. I am also looking at possibly a 1993-1994 toyota celica hatchback, or a 1993 pontiac firebird even. I keep having to go up in years on my searchs because the older models that i love best do not have the proper safety features that i want. and i’m assuming you can’t custom install airbags or anthing?

A: i love my jeep and wouldnt trade it for too many other cars. for safety….. its probably as safe as a pop can. its not something your going to want to drive on the highway much since there is a better chance for an accident. reliability, its great. i dont think i have ever had a time when i went out and tried to start either my 93 or 03 wrangler and them not start so they are VERY reliable. miles per gallon they are pretty good i guess for a 4 wheel drive. i think in my 93 i get 18 mpg and my 03 GOT around 19 before i put tires and stuff on it. now it gets about 13 or so. its not too great anymore. maitanence is pretty good. there isn’t all to much to them so things are easy to replace. i keep mine on the road no mud or anything, they can take it but i want to get money out of them someday and i like clean jeeps. so for the most part, there isnt much at all that goes bad in wranglers. i LOVE mine and highly recommend buying one!

Q: 2002 Jeep Wrangler installed used factory hard top, what hold rear glass shut?
Top came off a 2003 wrangler (salvage yard). With tailgate closed it opens until it hits spare tire. There is no place for latches.

A: Loosen the back window at the hinges and pull it down as far as you can. Tighten the hinges. The tailgate should keep the back window closed. If you cant get it down low enough, try raising the tailgate at the hinges.

Q: What questions to ask when buying a used 2 door Jeep Wrangler?
I don’t know a lot about cars but I am interested in buying a used Jeep Wrangler. I have recently found one and its a 2005 Rubicon. It seems to be a good deal, $10,000 and only 55,000 miles. It comes with Car-fax and it has not been in an accident, its automatic and has A/C and front and rear air lockers. And a 4 to 1 low range transfer case also. What other important questions should I ask the person selling it?? What else do I need to know about the car before considering buying this 2 door Jeep.

A: Well probably the first question you need to ask is what kind of Jeep do you need? Are you going to be doing a lot of serious off-roading?? If so, what kind? Rock crawling, mudding, messing around in the sand dunes, etc… If not, what will the Jeep be used for?

The Rubicon is the most off-road capable Jeep they make. For that reason it is also the most expensive. If you aren’t going to be off-roading a lot, then there really is no need to pay the premium for the Rubicon. A cheaper trim level would be just as nice.

One question I would ask is how often the Jeep was taken off-road. I would inspect the undercarriage for damage to the skid plates to verify the information that the owner gives you. An 05 for 10 grand seems very cheap to me… So it might be a good idea to take it to a mechanic and get it checked out before you buy. Also check the tread on the tires. It’s possible that it needs new tires and that’ll be another thousand to two thousand dollars probably. Depending on the make and model of tire that you get.

You’ll also want to know about any aftermarket parts that have been added. And who installed them. Also, depending on your needs/wants it may not be a good idea to get one particular vehicle because of the parts that have been added or taken away. You may find that you want to remove, or add something later on, and you’ll spend more money by starting with something that is already built in a way you don’t want, than if you just found one that was stock and built it from the ground up the first time.

That’s a very long-winded answer. Best way to do it would be to figure out exactly what you would use the vehicle for, and then pick the proper Jeep to suit your needs. It’ll keep you from spending extra money on something that you don’t need. You can also check out jeepforum.com for a lot of information regarding any question that you could possibly ask.

Q: Used 1998 Jeep Wrangler with 175,000 miles, would it be worth it?
Used 1998 Jeep Wrangler with 175,000 miles, would it be worth it? Their selling it for $6,200. It’s a 4c 5speed 4×4. Jeeps keep their price, but the mile age is making me iffy.

A: if it was the In line six it would probably be worth that much but the Jeep 4CY is a notoriously underpowered problem prone P.O.S especially seeing as its so high mileage again the in line six’s last for almost ever but the 4cy have very short life spans if you can negotiate the price down $1500 at least and can afford to have an engine swap done than go for it other wise run away run as far and as fast as you can the body’s in good shape but that motor is probably trashed but like i said if you can afford the engine swap the motor will usually cost about $12 -1400 from a shop or you can go to a junk yard and probably get one for $500-1000 and labor will probably be about a $1000 so really unless your looking for an easy project vehicle you’re better off just buying one with a six cylinder in it or finding one with a good body/transmission but no motor hope i helped

Q: how would a used jeep wrangler cost?
my range is from about, $1000-3000
OR like a truck at the same price as well as being used

A: wranglers hold value but i got mine for 3200. and it is rust free and has 125k miles. i was lucky it was a steal but had to travel 2 hours to get it. if you look hard enough you can find something but it will prolly need some work

Q: is high mileage on used jeep wrangler bad or good?

A: It depends on the maintenance that was done it. A well cared for Wrangler can easily hit 200K and still be going strong. I have two Wranglers right now, one has 98K miles the other has 144k miles and both are going strong. I recently sold a Jeep Cherokee with well over 240k miles on it.

High mileage is not a problem in and of itself, the problem is whether or not good maintenance (regular oil changes and servicing) were performed. If yes, then shouldn’t be a problem.

Q: Which is all around better for a jeep wrangler: automatic or manual transmission?
i want to buy a used Jeep Wrangler and im not sure if i should buy a automatic or learn to drive manual.

A: if you’re going to be on-road, a manual may be the way to go. it sounds as if you’re a bit of an inexperienced driver, so you may do some limited off-road, in which case, the manual trans will be fine for that as well. if you, however, plan to go rock crawling, the auto. trans will help keep forward momentum by not rolling backward as you pedal from brake to accelerator. in any case, be safe, have fun, and tread lightly!

Q: How does a Jeep Wrangler with a lift kit handle on the highway?
I’m looking at used jeep wranglers to buy. There are a lot with lift kits, I really like how they look but I don’t know how well they handle on the highway. Should I get one with a little lift or just stock? I’m not planning on going off road much…

A: I drive a Hummer with a lift kit. It takes a bit of getting used to. You feel a wobble every time you hit a bump, but its good for driving through snow and mud.

Q: I’m thinking about buying a used Jeep Wrangler. Are they long lasting cars/can they handle lots of miles?
I work from home and don’t intend to drive the car that much…just errands, etc. I would like to spend $10,000 or less, so it will have to be a car that has about 100,000 miles on it. I have heard that these cars last a while, but it seems strange to buy a car with that many miles on it. I have also heard that they are not too difficult to work on, but I am not very good with working on cars. Any advice?

A: Jeeps CAN be pretty reliable, but they have their quirks, and some suspension problems, too. I have 157,000 on mine, with no major work other than front drive universal joints. I’ve been told 200,000 or more is possible with no expensive work. The engines are good, usually the transmissions, too, it’s the suspension and leafsprings that are the first to go. Also some rust issues, around the rear leaf springs, weak driver coil spring breakage, and some other issues come to mind. Nothing that should stop you from considering one. They’re not Cadillac smooth, but they get the job done. I own a ‘94 Cherokee, and it’s done all right by me, 22 mpg highway.
-The Gremlin Guy – <into AMC cars>

Q: I want to buy a used Jeep Wrangler and don’t know too much about the different model years?
I’ve always wanted a Jeep Wrangler with a lift package and 4WD – ever since I learned to drive. But, I’ve always stuck with ‘more practical’ cars. Now, I just want to buy one for once-in-a-while use/fun. Is there a specific model year(s) I should stay away from? How about trim packages?

Can anyone make any suggestions for my situation? I don’t want to spend a lot of money, but I also don’t want to get something just because it’s cheap.

A: The year and model is going to depend VERY much on what you have available for sale in your area, and have an opportunity to test drive, and how low the seller is willing to go on the price, etc…

BUT, that being said, if you doing it for the experience of offroading – forget about the “trim packages” and 2WD. There really isn’t any other veritable reason for buying a Wrangler, so… forget about trim and 2WD.

I really recommend finding one with 6 cylinders that already has a 3″ lift, locking diff. (especially one that you can control from inside the cab.) Since moving to Spain, I have found the holy grail of Wranglers is actually one that I had discounted and dismissed as weak, prior to offroading in one: The turbo-diesel inline four cylinder Wrangler. Better range, better mileage and cheaper fuel (sorry, in the U.S. diesel is inexplicably more expensive?) makes up for noisy, loud, dirty and smelly. Since Wranglers already are noisy, loud and well, you’re offroading, so find the one that is in your price range, that they let you take offroad during the test-drive, and that has the least miles on it.

When they say “JK” they mean the current (since 2007), modern ones with V6’s, and TJs are the ones with inline six engines. The older ones (older than TJs, older than 1997) have square headlights, and probably more hassle than you want, even if the price seems right. Especially if the price seems right.

Welcome to the cult, I mean club.

Q: I would like to purchased a used jeep wrangler no older than 1999 with real glass side windows.?
What is the reccomended max amount of milleage for a vehicle as such?

A: well the average driver puts about 12,000-15,000 miles on their car a year so 15,000 x 8(years)=120,000 but you will probably be fine w/ anything under 140k as long as it is been well maintained

Q: What is good year for a Jeep Wrangler?
I am looking to buy a used jeep wrangler Sahara or SE and I was wondering which years were a better make of the vehicle. Also as far as mileage I was wondering when jeeps started to break down and need more repairs. Thanks.

A: Wranglers are reliable and tough. I prefer the 1997 to 2006 models with a 6 cylinder and 5 or 6 speed trans. They ride better than the earlier models.

Q: How do i convince my parents that a Jeep Wrangler is SAFE?
Basically i want to buy a used jeep wrangler. year around 2000-06.
Anything that could help me convince my parents i wont die in one? or why its such a great car?
THANKS

A: You have to make it safe. It is easy to kill yourself in any car. Jeeps are not the safest cars out there. They are top heavy and short, so only you can operate it safely. I like my jeep because it is fun to cruise around without the top and doors on and go off road, but on the highway I understand that it is not as stable as a car that is lower to the ground.
Don’t try to convince them that the car is safe, convince them that you will be safe in what ever you drive.
Good luck!

Q: The pros and cons of purchasing a used jeep wrangler are…? A full tank=$__?

A: cons:
-wranglers get about 15 mpg. think about how much you drive and calculate your monthly fuel bill. see if that’s in your budget.
-see how many miles are on the jeep. check it’s maintenance record. if it’s had major repairs chances are it will need them again in the future.
-jeeps don’t handle well at high speeds. they don’t corner at all and they’re loud as hell going down the freeway.
-don’t try to actually do any serious off-roading in it. you’ll probably crack the axle. jeeps are just for show.
pros:
-they’re cute and lots of girls like them for that reason.

Q: how many miles can you expect to get out of a jeep wrangler?
I’m looking at used Jeep Wranglers that have anywhere from 80,000 to 175,000 miles on them. I’m just wondering how many more miles I can get before an engine rebuild.

A: too many variables for a good answer here…. 4cyl? 6cyl? 8? what year? what modifications? highway miles? offroad miles? maintenance records?

i will say that any engine with 175,000 miles on it already is a risk unless it was owned by a working mechanic. and stay away from the high mileage 4cyls. altogether. otherwise, the jeep wrangler can be one of tose “lifetime” vehicles. i love mine! do your research before making any decisions. good luck!

Q: which car to get? USED toyota tercel, corolla, camry, honda civic or nissan sentra?
Hi all, i’m a poor college student and i need to find a RELIABLE car for as cheap as possible. will probably be getting a used car from a private party on craigslist or something. probably a 1994-1997 toyota tercel, corolla, camry, honda civic or nissan sentra. i will be getting a clear titled car

factors to consider:
cost of car
cost of parts
cost of maintenance
mpg (though they’re all pretty similar)
i need an automatic

right now the costs of the cars are in this order: lowest to highest
tercel
sentra
corolla
civic
camry

i plan to drive this car around 4-5 years, and i want to not have to bother with maintenance so much and if i do, which car has the cheapest? i heard civics have the cheapest parts, but a civic is about $1000 more than a tercel.
but i don’t know how much maintenance i’ll have to put into the tercel and if i do, would the prices add up??

thanks for your expertise. share any stories/experiences about the mentioned cars or any warnings.
ALSO

i plan on getting a car with around 100-150k mileage
so i need one that will last me 4 years, i don’t really plan to resell it, but it’s a possibility. even if just for a couple hundreds…
i won’t use more than 10k miles a year and they’re mostly going to be freeway miles
ALSO apart from craigslist, ebay and yahoo auto

where can i get used cars for LA area ? cheap and reliable?
thanks
preferably private parties. sites
does anyone know how much it’d cost to fix the AC and horn for a civic?
thanks

A: I’ve owned a 92 Civic, 3 Corollas (89, 92, 95), and 90 Tercel, but not Sentra or Camry. And I am a college student, AND I bought all of these cars for $1000 or under. I also bought all of them with my own hard earned money, so I know the value of a reliable and easy to maintain car. I am also training to be a mechanic so I know which is easier to get parts for, etc…

The most enjoyable, reliable, and best overall car would be the Corolla. I had a 95 Corolla and currently drive a 92 Civic. They both are cars that can run up to 200k miles and can still be good. The Corolla has a little more room and a little more power. The Civic does cost much, much less for parts. Though overall the Corolla faired me the best, and was the most reliable. It also sold for the most. It is the easiest car I have ever worked on, and thats between hundreds.

I think you should focus on these two cars, the Civic and Corolla. They are equal all around, its just availability. Matter of fact I am selling my 93 Honda Civic and getting a newer 2000 Civic to finish out this last year of College to get my bachelors degree. They are really good cars.

BTW, Tercels are okay, just I find the engines weak, and sometimes they cost within 2 or 3 hundred of the Corolla which is way better. But if you get the Tercel its okay too.

Good luck.

Q: Used Honda Accord or Toyota Camry?
I am in the market to purchase a used Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry. My current vehicle is a 94 Toyota Landcruiser but I am looking to downgrade as my commute to work and current gas mileage just do not agree. I have leased Honda Accords before 96 Accord EX, and 98 Accord EX Coupe. I never had a problem with my Accords (except for the reacall on the 98) but that was years ago.

I would like to know from peoples experience and personal knowledge what if any problems or reacalls they are aware of in Accords and Camrys between the years 1994-2004. Particularly, if there are any model years that I should stay away from.

A: You’re going to get a car that will outlast most 3rd world nations either way, but Hondas are known for better interior materials, fit and finish. See: http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/10245/mid-size-four-door-sedans.html
Honda: 1st Place… Toyota: Dead Last
Or you could really go crazy and buy American, but how American would that be?

Q: Where does the power steering fluid get added in a 1997 Toyota Camry? What type should be used?
I lost the manual and we need to get this added

A: Power steering reservoir is located on the right side of the engine. The reservoir is a translucent plastic and the fluid can be checked visually. The fluid recommended per my Haynes manual is Dexron ll or lll automatic transmission fluid. This is the manufacture recommendation at time manual the manual was written, but it also recommend to check with auto part store for current recommendations

Q: I want to buy a used but dependable Toyota corolla or camry in range of $4000 to $ 6000.?
I did internet search for certified dealers in vein as they do not have cars in my range. I came to this country a few months back and I have seen some car dealers (not Toyota certified)on highways selling used cars. Is it a good decision to buy from them? Please help me in this decision.

A: I’d go through a private party, with the stipulation that your mechanic does a check of the car. It’s a money saver.

http://www.carsdirect.com is a pretty good site.

Q: Buying a used car for commuting: 1986 Toyota Camry with 80k miles on it? Or 2000 Hyundai Accent with 100k?
The Toyota looks to be in very nice condition despite it’s age. So everyone says Toyotas but the Hyundai’s you can buy much much newer for the same price. My friend who knows about cars tested the Hyundai and it seems to have a strong engine, drove great.

A: the Toyota is too old

but i wouldn’t buy a Hyundai or a Kia made b4 2004

go here to read what other 2000 Accent owners had to say:

http://autos.msn.com/research/userreviews/reviewlist.aspx?modelid=9559

Q: Approx price of a 2000 toyota camry transmission?
What is a fair price for a used 2000 toyota camry transmission?

A: It depends if its a automatic or standard,it also matters if its a 4 cylinder engine or a six cylinder the six being more expensive usually. If its a 4 cylinder auto your looking at 2500 for a rebuilt and if its a six auto probably about 3000.If you can find a rebuilt standard probably around a1000.Salvage yard prices will be about half that, but I would never buy one as Ive had bad luck with that stuff.Good luck.

Q: What could it be? Clicking noise on Toyota Camry 97 LE, on head. Could it be valve lifters bad or valve adj?
First of all, thanks for all your help recently. Anyway, hopefully you can help me with this too. I recently just purchased a used Toyota Camry 97 LE car and it’s making some clicking sounds on the inside the engine head when I step on the gass. The heavier I step on the gas the faster the clicking sound. I took it to 2 gas-station car-fixing shops and both technicians thought that the valve lifters needed to be replaced but they weren’t exactly sure. I then took it to a dealer and the service advisor (not a technician, he’s the person who schedules appointments for technicians) and he said he never had to replace the valve lifters on a Toyota before, and that he had been there a few years already. He said if anything, it should be that the valve needed an adjustment. He wanted $120 just to diagnose it. These things are expensive so I was trying to avoid having to pay $120 just for diagnostic. Do you happen to know what this problem could be? Please help. I appreciate it.

A: On that car you do not have lifters, nor are the valves easily adjustable.

The cam lobes ride directly on top of the valves. There are “caps” which fit over the valve springs and they have small shims in the end that contacts the cam lobe. The clearance is measured and the shims are replaced with thicker or thinner as needed. These don’t wear out or get “out of adjustment” unless a cam lobe is worn down, or a valve face has burned.

There is a service bulletin warning not to bend the internal baffel under the valve cover when filling with oil. I have seen these bend and ride on the cam causing a click.

Don’t overlook an exhaust leak. That can mimic the sound you describe.

Take it to someone who is familiar with the Camry.

Q: is a used 2004 toyota camry le with 104000 miles worth 10000?

A: No, honestly it is not worth 10k. When it hits 100k miles it needs almost a full service on it. Replacement of certain things, engine flush, and more. Also new tires if on original, alignment, and everything. That would up the toll on what you pay. And that is a lot of mileage on a car, considering average people drive about 12k a year. That would mean the car drives about 21k a year and thats almost double a year. If the car hasn’t been taking care of that engine will go later on and you will have problems with the car.

Q: is it possible to find a toyota camry for at the most for 6000?
i want to find a used toyota camry.
the year 2000
and low miles
and only 5000

A: Not one that runs, or was in a Huricane

Q: 2000 Toyota Camry – squealing to the left and right problem?
I just purchased a used Toyota Camry..when I turn the wheel all the way to the left or right it squeals…a man told me that it probally has “air” in ..humm something..told me to let it squeal and get the air out..it did stop for a little while..but the squeal is now back..what could it be??

A: sounds like you have a slipping belt, check and tighten if necessary.

Q: Used 2006 Toyota Camry LE Save this car $5,995?
I’m going to buy my first car, is it worth this much because it has 320,240 miles on it? will it die soon or not.
thnx, i know nothing about cars

A: At 300,000 + miles… it’s not even worth $1,000. Yes, it’s going to die very very soon. That’s about the life of a Toyota.

Q: Whats the better used car, Ford Taurus, Toyota Camry, or Buicks and Olds’?
Got to find a car 1500.00 Whats the safest direction?

A: Dont get the Taurus. My parents bought one with 40k miles and ended up spending $5000 in repairs! Literally something went wrong every other week. They were soooo happy when I totalled it in an accident (not my fault btw).

I also made the mistake of buying a Taurus with 90k miles and it blew its engine after 500 miles.

Also rented a Taurus once and its fuel gauge was wacked even tho it was a brand new car. Plus got terrible gas mileage in the low 20s. Comparable Accord and Camry get over 30MPG.

For $1500, you can buy a 88-92 Honda Accord. I bought a 88 Accord for $900 and it was great for the year I owned it. Took it on numerous 500 mile trips and never once broke down. Plus got 40MPG.

Q: what is the price of a used transmission for a 1993 toyota camry?

A: try asking the guys at askautopro.com

Q: What is the use of Camry toyota cabin air filter?
I went for oil change at toyota for my 2002 camry and they asked me to change the cabin air filter. They said it makes the car over heat and it cost me 45 bucks .
So is it true and if not cos I doubted the guy, what is the main use of the cabin air filter, and does it affect the car if not changed?
I guessed the only prob is low air quality in the car but not sure. Help

A: the cabin air filter is there to clean the air in the cabin. go back to where ever you heard them say that it the car over heat and tell them BS! i can guarantee what i am saying. pull his guy card and then burn it, foolish guy making stuff up to make you buy it.

Find great deals and more information about the Used Honda Civic! At your favorite automotive site wheelsdirect2u.com

Q: What are your thoughts on buy a used honda civic gx – Natural Gas Vehicle?
I am thinking about getting a Natural gas vehicle and the Honda Civic GX seems to make the most sense. I would enjoy the lower gas prices and access to Carpool Lanes. There isnt a whole lot of reviews or information on these vehicles. What are your thoughts, experiences, etc.?

A: Wow!!What a great car.I live on the east coast(Massachusetts),and being a Honda master tech, went to the training center to get certified on them. You could not work on them if you weren’t. I then discovered that Honda did not sell them, only leased them(they would get them all back, and mostly to companies as fleet vehicles, and some lucky customers). This was only available in California. What i did learn is that the engine did not wear out like regular ones that ran on gasoline,as there were no hydrocarbons produced to contaminate the oil, leading to an engine which didn’t wear out,and less oil changes. If i could buy one,and i’ve looked for 7 years,i would. The motors last forever.Good luck in finding one for sale(unless you live on the west coast). Sincerely,..Barrie

Q: SHould I buy a used Honda Civic?
I hear that Honda Civic’s are good cars and I;m thinking about getting one. Mu budget is $8000. WHat car should I get if I don’t get a honda civic and what year?

A: You could probably find a 2000 Civic with 70,000 miles in good condition under your budget.
One that has been taken care of will last you at least 150,000 miles (or more) if you take care of it.

Whenever you buy a used car, make sure to have an independent mechanic look it over. You don’t want to make an $8,000 mistake.

Q: looking at buying a used honda civic at 4k wit 165000 miles on it and a mazda 01′ wit 150000 miles at 4k?
which would be a better deal to take?

A: I bought my 1997 H civic for 3200 and it was salvaged but looked great and ran great and still does. It only had 120 k miles. I would go with the Honda to get a better deal. Also the engines can last up to 250k or even better. Ive even heard to 300.

Q: how many miles should a used honda civic have to least a good 4+ years?
without problems, or without something dying/needing replacement/getting fixed…
coupe… automatic

A: My last car was a 1991 Honda Accord LX – it was a manual transmission 5 speed. It had 340,000+ miles on it when finally – the rear brakes locked up.

Q: How much will I have to pay monthly on a certified used Honda Civic, if it costs $13,000 and I put $3,000 down
ok! I’m not really sure how much I plan on paying for the car but I just want to know how much I would have to pay monthly if the car costs about $13 to $14 thousand and I’m putting about $3 to $4 thousand down. You can tell that I dont have any car knowledge what-so-ever! lol!

A: My advice to you, spend as much time as possible doing the research. Don’t feel bad going to the dealership, and asking questions. Be blunt about what you need to know. If you are a serious buyer, then the seller should absolutely spend the time with you. Don’t allow anyone to pressure you. You’ll be stuck with the car, and the payments for years. The dealer only has to put up with you for a few hours, collect the commission, and that’s it, they are done. They will suffer none of the consequences of your purchase.
Please look into buying new, because you will pay a higher interest rate on a used vehicle, so you may actually do better to buy new, if you consider that, and the warranty, and whatever dealer, or manufacturer incentives you can take.
Take the time to compare all your options.
However, everytime you speak to a sales person, and give them all of your info, they will do a credit inquiry. Each credit inquiry shows up on your credit report. It is said that this does not negatively impact your credit, but lenders do take inquiries into consideration. So, ask the dealer for their best offer, including incentives, but don’t give them all of your info to put in for the loan each time. Get a ball park estimate for what inerest rate you will qualify for, then plug the numbers in to the calculator link that I’m sending. That will give you a close idea of what your payments will be. Know what you want before you buy. Absolutely bargain for the better price, and shop around. Good Luck!

Q: Can I expect any big discounts after new year for used honda civic from 2006 ( new shape)?????
I know honda is not (with all the respect) fiat that after one year price for a used car will drop down up to 40 %, but if today i have to pay for 1.4 se civic around 13 000 , how it will be in first part of the 2007??????????????????????

A: the civic is currently available for 13000 but it is difficult to expect the car in the second hand market so soon.. however the price should drop from 13 to say about 9.5(approx) in case you want to go in for a new car then go in the last days of dec to avail a good sum as discount in order to get the stock of 2006 sold out…

Q: Which are the best certified used car dealers in austin, TX to buy a used Honda Civic?

A: If you want a true “Honda Certified” Civic, then you must go to a Honda dealer.

I dealt with all three in Austin at one time or another. First Texas Honda was, in my opinion, the best. They never pressured us, had an excellent service department, and a decent selection.

Q: Should I buy a used Honda Civic 2000 DX?
I am unsure about buying this car. EVERYTHING is GREAT (engine, body, etc) BUT it has manual steering, not power steering.

I am wondering if that will prove difficult and too annoying, or if i should go for it!

It’s a good price too and low KMs.

Advice?

A: It’s a light car and power steering is not required. Go for it.

Q: Value of a used honda civic?
what is the value of a used honda civic that is a 2004 or a 2005 model. it is in perfect condition. i know the person that would be selling it to me and i can honestly say that i know they took really good car of it. it has about 70- 80 thousand miles on it?

A: Start here and fill in the details – http://www.edmunds.com/used/2004/honda/civic/100344064/options.html

I would need to know if it is an automatic or manual transmission and what trim level it is. Could be anywhere from about $6500 to 9500 depending on those options.

Q: where to buy used honda civic in uk ?
i heard main dealers are best bet e.g. chiswick honda
any thoughts on that ?

A: ebay

Q: How much is the car insurance payment for a used 2002 honda civic?
i wanna know how much car insurance payment will it cost me per month at triple A insurance at california.

A: That depends on alot of things like you age, how many tickets or accidents you have had. Just because two people have the same car don’t mean their insurance will be the same amount

Also you can find some advice here…

http://carquotes.imess.net

Have a nice day.

Q: Where can I buy a used honda civic 06-07 cheaper?
courtsizle: r u kidding how would I let you know? You don’t allow im, you don’t allow email.

A: My boyfriend has a honda civic and it sucks so i would suggest buying something ALOT better

Q: Opinions on purchasing used honda civic 2001?
OK so its 4000 dollars it has 112,000 miles and there is nothingwrong with the car, although it has salvage title. But there isnt anything wrong with it.
Is it a good deal? (its not a vtech its a regular 4 door sedan)

A: have the car checked out by a mechanic before you buy

Q: What’s the first thing you will check when you buy a used Honda Civic Si?
and plss don’t recommend me to buy a new one instead…. I can not reach the price…..

A: It’s a Honda Civic. If you’re buying one that’s under 100,000 miles you probably won’t be able to find anything wrong with it.

Do take a look at the brakes and I’ve noticed with some Civics that the upholstery is a bit fragile. Give that a look as well.

Q: Where is the best place to buy a used Honda Civic in Victoria?
Vtec engine

A: The junkyard.

Oohhhhh Vtec. Give me a break. All the ricers talk about that like its the best engine around. Its rubbish

Q: Want to buy a used Cadillac CTS for about 6k?
I was wondering if those cars take alot of gas or not. I already have a car now, its a 2001 kia optima. I want this car because it is beautiful and I want to upgrade from my first car. I think I might pass for now if I find out that it takes up alot of gas. Also do you know anything else about these models. Any info is much appreciated.

A: Keep the Kia.

As nice as the Caddy may be, the repairs will have you curled up in the fetal position.

That Kia doesn’t have a $500 steering stabilizer sensor or a $2000 air suspension that WILL (Really, not IF, but WHEN.) bite the dust.

You’re welcome.

Q: I bought a used cadillac cts (stick shift) with problems (lemon?)?
I bought a used cadillac cts stick shift and it has 43,000 and is still under warranty, I’ve taken it in the dealer twice and was wondering if they normally shift kinda weird or if I should take it to another dealer. They have replaced multiple parts on it already. Also a switch on the back drivers window needed to be replaced. I have only had this car for 2 months. I think it might be a lemon. I need advice bad!

A: As long as it is under warranty.. let them keep fixing and replacing.. eventually there should be nothing left to mess up!

Q: How much would a mildly used Cadillac CTS cost?
a 2007 used one not a brand new one

A: Well, there is a major difference between a mildly used 2008 model and a mildly used 2007 model, so give us a little more information and we might be able to help you.

Q: Why are used Cadillac Deville’s cheaper than used Cadillac CTS’s of the same year and mileage?
I have been looking around at used Cadillacs in the Houston, TX area and have noticed that when the year is the same Cadillac Deville’s are almost always cheaper than the Cadillac CTS’s even when the CTS has higher mileage. This doesn’t make sense to me because the CTS is Cadillac’s entry vehicle while the Deville was one of their upper level cars. The Deville is also rated as being the more reliable of the two on almost every website that I have seen.

The Deville has a Northstar V8 engine and started out new at around $45,000+ while the CTS only has a V6 engine and started out new at around $30,000+

A: Heavy advertising and high performance have made the CTS more desirable. Not better, just more desirable.

Q: pros and cons of hummer H2 **or** cadillac cts USED UNDER 20K?
I need some advice, this would be our familys main vehicle, grocery getter, back and forth to school etc.
I really like both and want to know what others think of pros and cons. I am not talking about brand new. I only buy used. My budget would be about 18k-20k

A: The CTS is a beautifully appointed car with most any bell and whistle you might need along with car of the year a couple years back. The H2 just says look at me, unless you live in the wilds somewhere and need a day to day off road vehicle. Get the CTS

Q: I found a used 2004 Cadillac cts 34000 miles sticker price 16880. What should I offer to start?

A: If it’s from a private party, check its condition. Are the tires worn? Does it have more than normal wear and tear on the body or the interior? Is the paint mismatched? Does the current owner have all the service records? Get the VIN and pay for a Carfax report. Is it clean?

Next, write down all the options and exact mileage. Go to edmunds.com and kbb.com to get current average selling prices for your area. Now you are armed with a lot of useful info. Be friendly when you talk to the owner. Ask him/her what the lowest price he’ll/she’ll take to sell it right now. You want that person to give away the rock bottom price right up front. OR … ask you what you’re willing to pay for it right now. If that happens, you have the upper hand.

But keep in mind, being friendly, not arrogant or pushy, is the best way to get your price.

If the car is at a dealer, there should be a Buyer’s Guide on the window. Ask to see the Carfax report. If the report isn’t clean, a reputable dealer will wholesale the car rather than put it on his lot. A conniving one will keep it and prevent you from seiing the Carfax. You need to know if the dealer is trustable.

Then tell the salesperson you don’t want to waste time haggeling. Offer $15,880 plus fees. If he counters, reiterate your price. If he counters again, walk off the lot. I can almost guarantee he’ll come running after you telling you you have a deal.

Most used cars on a lot have at least a $2000 difference between what they’re into it and what they’re asking price is. So splitting the difference, $1000 off, is a fair deal for everyone.

Q: I just bought a used 2007 Cadillac CTS-V does anybody know how to set up the bluetooth for my cell phone?

A: Read you manual. It’s not that hard. I just set my bluetooth up in my vehicle. It was pretty easy, it works great…

Q: How do you use a cadillac cts’s sport mode? I noticed the “S” button in it, but how do i use it?

A: you push it

Q: How do you use an automatic cadillac cts’s sport mode? There’s a button “S” and then at the top of the?
shifter there is a button that looks sort of like a snowflake. What does each of these buttons do and when do i press them?

A: The “S” button is for the Sport mode, which changes the automatic transmission’s shift ratios to a more aggressive pattern, providing for faster acceleration. It’s useful for passing or merging into highway traffic, but uses more fuel.

A Cadillac Owner’s Manual says the following:

“For a firmer shift and increased performance, you may choose the sport mode. This button lets you change from a normal driving mode
to a sport driving mode. It is located on the shift lever handle. Press the “S” button once to select the sport feature. Press it again to return to the normal driving mode. When you start the engine, your vehicle will be in normal mode. For general driving conditions, use the normal mode. It will remain in normal unless you select the sport feature. This light on the instrument panel cluster will come on when the sport mode
is selected. If this light begins flashing while you are driving, there may be a fault in the automatic transmission. Have your vehicle serviced.”

**********

The Snowflake button is designed to get your car moving in snow or ice by providing a launch at lower RPM’s in third gear.

A Cadillac Owner’s Manual says the following:

“Press this button to provide more traction when you are starting on ice or other slippery surfaces. It only operates when the shift lever is in DRIVE (D). The button is located next to the shift lever on the console.
The transmission will be in THIRD (3) when the vehicle begins to move. After starting in THIRD (3), the vehicle will upshift normally.

This feature is for improved traction only when the road surface is slippery and is not intended for continuous use or when the vehicle is stuck in sand, mud, ice, snow or gravel. Drive as usual for normal road conditions. This feature automatically turns off when any of the
following conditions occur:

When the ignition is turned off.
If the shift lever is placed in PARK (P), THIRD (3),
SECOND (2), or FIRST (1).
If you press and hold the accelerator pedal past its
resistance point for more than two seconds.
When speed falls below 25 mph (40 km/h).
Once the vehicle reaches 67 mph (108 km/h).

To turn this feature off, press the button again. Whenever you start your vehicle, the transmission is in the normal mode.”

Q: i just bought a used car 03 cts cadillac.?
i just want to know if i received any warranty when i purchased the car..

or i have to go to the dealer and ask them. but what do you think is the average warranty they offer me. for how long 5 months ?

A: Unless the dealer specifically offered you a warranty, there is no factory warranty left on a used 2003 CTS.

Q: Does my 2006 Cadillac CTS use a timing belt or a timing chain and how often does it need to be changed?

A: Pretty sure it uses a belt, if so around 60k. If its a chain it could last the entire lifetime of the vehicle.

Q: I am in the market for a used car and i saw a 2003 cadillac cts for only 12900. The downside is it has 109K.?
I work from home so I won’t do much driving but do you think I should go for it or take a pass? I get a discount on American cars so it won’t cost that much for me to have it, but if i should completely stay away from it let me know. Any other options you can provide will be helpful also, but like i said, I dont want to spend too much on a car cause I dont drive alot.
I was looking at a Honda at the dealership and then I ran upon one. My parents have a CTS and i love to drive it and like the features but was wondering about the long term qualities of having one. I would like to get an American car so that I can use my discount, but if it just isnt worth it then i’ll pass.

A: What is it about that car that appeals to you? Is it the Cadillac name? The price? Go to Autotrader.com and put in your specific requirements, e.g. sedan, v6, leather seats, cruise control. You’ll probably find something similar with fewer miles or a better price. Use Edmunds.com to compare the vehicles, and KBB.com to make sure you don’t pay too much.

Q: Does the Cadillac CTS use regular or mid grade or high grade gas? iIs it good in mileage?
????

A: Cadillac recommends regular unleaded (87 octane) on the v6 model and premium unleaded (92 octane) for the Northstar V8 and W model (high performance). It gets about 16 city/24 hwy for the V6 and 14/22 for the V8. I attached the goverment fuel economy website for you.

Q: Cadillac cts or ford fusion?
Im buying my first car and am debating between a used 2004 cadillac cts and a 2008 ford fusion. They are the same price and have similar mileage, both are V6’s, which is the smarter choice?

A: The Cadillac!

Q: I need opinions on Cadillac CTS!!!?
I am in the process of looking for a vehicle that provides a smooth ride for my newborn. I dont like SUV’s and I cant really afford a new truck. I have been looking at the Cadillac CTS…used of course…and I have fallen in love! HOWEVER, I have talked to some people that say they always break down and are super expensive to fix. And then Ive talked to other people who have driven them all thier life and never had a problem and love them. Im confused. I know any car can break down, but can anyone share thier experience with me about em. Are they good cars and am I making a good choice?

A: They are wrong.

They are very reliable for American cars and cheap to fix.

Cheaper than all competitors like Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, and others.

Specific Cadillac’s are very expensive to fix or maintain like the Escalade.
But the CTS is an affordable, nice luxury car.

I have driven a 2003 model with 80,000 miles and it drove and looked like new.

If you read reviews on edmunds.com or vehix or yahoo autos, all the reviews are good.

Q: I just bought a used 2002 Honda Odyssey and the CD player quits playing after the 6th track.?
My dad has a 2001 Honda Odyssey and says his CD player does the same thing. Should I complain to Honda or just replace it? Any ideas how difficult and the price to replace it?

A: Try to play another CD. If it doesn’t work go to your dealer but they’ll most likly tell you that it’s not under the warranty so you’ll have replace it on your which will be some where betweem $150. to $500.

Good Luck!

Q: Would you buy an used Ford Explorer over Honda Odyssey?
I need a minivan desperately. I am thinking of all options… Used Sienna, Odyssey, Explorer (more of SUV than minivan), Mazda5… Not sure which one do I prefer.
I am looking to keep the vehicle for a timeframe of 1.5 years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks folks.

A: An Explorer is not a minivan at all, it’s a truck based SUV – not even remotely comparable to an Odyssey or Sienna. It doesn’t have nearly as much room as either. The upside of an explorer is you can buy used ones cheap, but they don’t get as good gas mileage as an Odyssey. The Mazda5 is a minivan, but much smaller and less roomy, and you probably won’t find many used since they haven’t been around long. If they are big enough for you, they are better on gas because of the smaller size and four cylinder engine (try to find one with a stick).

The Odyssey is probably the best minivan out there (close second to the Sienna), but if you’re just looking for a relatively short term, you can get a used Ford Windstar/Freestar for a lot less. They aren’t as roomy inside, but still roomier than the Explorer or Mazda5, and are pretty durable.

Hope this helps you

Q: Buying a used Honda Odyssey – advice, please!?
We’ve found a 2000 Honda Odyssey with 275,000 miles on it. They’re asking $2,700 for it. Is that a reasonable deal? Is there likely to be problems in the near future with it having so many miles on it? Any advice or input would be very much appreciated.

A: Don’t do it those 2,700 they goin to the garbage that car have to many miles is goin to break down any second trust me I work for the Honda dealer I see this Odyssey all the time….

Q: is anyone from Charleston, South Carolina wants to sell their used Honda Odyssey?

A: 10 matches on www.autotrader.com

Q: is ebay safe place to buy a used honda odyssey? where is the cheap place to get one? anyone wants to sell???

A: try http://www.carmax.com/ they have thousands of cars

Q: price of used honda odyssey 1995?

A: depends on what shape it is in.
If its in great shape about 4,000
if its in moderate about 3,250
really hard to tell you when theres no details

Q: Can I take a used 2003 Honda van to be inspected for recalls?
I recently bought a used 2003 Honda Odyssey EX, but I’m concerned about that year having so many recalls. It seems to work fine for now. It has 99,000 miles on it and usually when people noticed any problems they had 100,000-150,000 miles on it. Will a Honda dealership inspect it and replace parts that are recalled if needed at no cost to me even though I’m the second owner?

A: Go to Honda Dealer with vehicle, they can check vin # and give you a list of recalls issued on your vehicle, they should also be able to check records for any recall already done. Have friend with 2005 Odyssey they replaced his auto trans for free last year, slipping. Also you’re due for timing belt, etc. replacement, routine repair.

Q: want to buy used mini van. 2004 honda odyssey w/50k or 2007 dodge cara. w/5k? honda more reliable?
I have 2 kids, love the folding rear seat of honda, but not the miles. like stow and go seating in grand caravans, but feel like they’re not well made. I was told to go for the honda, because they’re supposed to be more reliable, but I don’t like all the miles on it. Any ideas?

A: See the answers and disagree, your problem with this question is everyone will give you an oppinion. Mine is that Dodge is garbage. I have, as well as my friends and family, NEVER had a reliable Dodge vehicle. Dodge has GARBAGE transmissions, and they usually get engine noise within a few years. Not to mention the fact that this multibillion dollar company still can’t figure out how to get their paint to stick.

As for Honda, I’ve only had a few, but they were old with tons of miles, so I trust them. Your best bet is to look up online, see what people say about both vehicles. Look at blue-book values on older versions of each, I will venture a guess that the Honda holds it’s value far better than Dodge.

Honestly, I don’t know anyone with a Dodge that hasn’t been forced to get rid of it within a few years because of the problems they started to have.

Q: 99 Honda CR-V, 99 Honda Odyssey Minivan, 02 Subaru Forrester used car purchase and gas mileage?
I am considering purchasing one of these used cars:
99 Honda CR-V EX 102 k miles asking: $7995
99 Honda Odyssey 100 k miles asking: $8250
02 Subaru Forrester: 77 k miles asking: $8990
Anyone own these cars and/or know the gas mileage they get.
99 Honda CR-V claims 22/25 city/hwy
99 Honda Odyssey claims 18/26 city/hwy
02 Subaru Forrester claims 22/27 city/hwy

A: these prices seem a high.

the 02 Subaru sells for $8.000 to $10K
appears to be the better deal.

99 Honda Crv should be more like $6,000
99 Honda Odyssey more like $8,000

2002
Occasional problems on this vehicle are failures of the Catalytic Converter, Air Fuel Ratio Sensor and Knock Sensor. An additional problem is failure of the Cylinder Head Gaskets. Problems with the Catalytic Converter and Knock Sensor will cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate. Problems with the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor can cause drivability issues and may also cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate, in some cases the Engine Control Module (ECM) may need to be reprogrammed as well. Cylinder Head Gasket failure can cause a engine coolant leak and may also cause the engine to overheat. The cost to replace the Catalytic Converter is estimated at $925.45 for parts and $130.00 for labor. The cost to replace the Air Fuel Ratio Sensor is estimated at $149.95 for parts and $45.50 for labor. The cost to reprogram the ECM is estimated at $97.50 for labor. The cost to replace the Knock Sensor is estimated at $97.00 for parts and $65.00 for labor. The cost to replace the Cylinder Head Gaskets is estimated at $75.00 for parts and $520.00 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65.00 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.

Q: Does the 2006 Honda Odyssey use a rubber or chain timing belt?
I also wanted to know if the 2006 Nissan Quest uses either a rubber or chain timing belt?? Thank you for your help ..

A: It uses a timing belt which MUST be changed at proper intervals. It is an interference engine(meaning the valves and pistons share a common amount of space simultaneously.) If the belt fails, the engine will be damaged.

Q: Recommendations on a 2007 Honda Odyssey Warranty?
I am considering getting an extended warranty for my 2007 Honda Odyssey. Has anyone used the Honda Care warranty before? Do they pay up if things go wrong or do they try to wiggle their way out and play the “this is not covered” game.
Can you please share your experiences.

A: I have had extended new car warranties in the past and have had minor dealer warranty work done in the past and have encountered no problems.

Q: 2003 Honda Odyssey radiator draincock location?
I bought a used 2003 Honda Odyssey EX and tried to change the radiator coolant by myself because the test shows it is not good. I jacked the van up and looked for a draincock under the radiator, but nowhere I could find it. Someone suggested that I should remove the undercover, so I did it, but still I could not find anything like that. Can anyone help me find the Honda Odyssey radiator draincock?

A: There should be a plastic skirt covering the bottom of the radiator. On that skirt is a square panel about 4″x4″. Pry that open and the draincock is there.
1- with car running set the heaters to maxium heat then turn off the car.
2-remove the radiator cap
3- open the draincock
4-You need to open the drainbolt on the side of the engine near the rear of the engine.
5-after the coolant stops coming out here is the refill instructions.
Engine Coolant Refill Capacity [including the reservoir capacity of 0.6 L (0.06 US qt., 0.5 Imp qt) ]
Without rear A/C: 5.5 L (5.8 US qt., 4.8 Imp qt.)
With rear A/C: 7.5 L (7.9 US qt., 6.6 Imp qt.)

-Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm until it warms up (the radiator fan comes on at twice). Make sure the thermostat is open. Turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to minimum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 5 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to maximum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 5 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to minimum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 3 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Set the temperature control dial to maximum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 1,500 rpm for 3 minutes , then turn off the engine. Check the level in the radiator, and add Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2, if needed.
-Repeat above steps until the coolant level dose not change in the radiator, then install the radiator cap loosely.
Set the temperature control dial to minimum. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 2,500 rpm for 1 minute.
-Turn heat to maximum and run for 2-3 minutes. Ensure you do not hear coolant running through the heater or engine. if you do you must repeat the above steps again.

These steps must be perormed as stated to prevent air pockets that can cause steam build up which can cause overheating and engine damage.

Good luck

Q: Where can I get the manual for the 2007 Honda Odyssey Nav System?
I bought a used Odyssey and don’t have instructions for the Nav System.

A: Here is a PDF file (7.7Mb size) for your ‘07 Odyssey. This is the 138-page Navigation Manual. If you have trouble actually downloading it to your computer just tell me. I will check back to see if you have any problems.

http://www.wedophones.com/Manuals/Honda/HONDA%202007%20Odyssey%20Navigation%20Manual%20(unlinked).pdf (*notice this is “unlinked”, which means that you must browse manually, and the first-page menu is non-clickable, if that makes sense)

Below is a possibly better link, because not only is this “linked” on the first pages, but if you see the top, it also has a link to the full Owner’s Manual in case you need that too.

http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/om/HH0707/HH0707NMAINID.pdf

Hope that helps!

Q: honda odyssey exl navigation system?
we just bought a used honda odyssey exl and we want to reset the navigation or at least input our home address and add to the address book ourselves.
but we can’t seem to figure out how to do so
does anyone know how to do this or somewhere we could look to figure this out? we already checked our owers manual and video.

A: You can enter your address, under “where to”, just set it as home.

Q: own a 2001 Honda odyssey van, transmission out. complete repair $2200 w/used trans is this good 4 Hawaii?
Are there any other considerations in requesting repair? The van has 155,000 miles.

A: I been in the business a long time and that seems high for a used transmission installed. I would call two or three shops and get ball park prices for a rebuild, at least in Az you could get a rebuild for 2500-2800 so I would personally spend a little more and get a rebuilt one, make sure you get at least 1 year 12,000 mile warranty parts and labor or go somewhere else.

Q: What would be a good first car?
I was wondering if a used 91 Acura nsx or a used FC RX7 would be a smart choice since its a first car and all.

please post suggestions for cars that are reliable and are similiar along the lines of the ones above

thanks all in advance

A: A 1991 Acura was a great car but it’s life is over.
The repair bill will offset any extra you will pay for a newer one.
Chevrolet Impala gets 30mpg and is star 5 crash tested. It has a low insurance symbol which rates are based on. A Mustang is 21 and a Jeep Wrangler is an 11. If you don’t mind the mpg a Jeep TJ is safe and dependable.
Have your mechanic check anything out first. The best $70 you have ever spent.
PS-take a flashlight and look for rust under the seats- if present walk away-flood car!
Be careful and take a trusted friend or parent.

Q: Why doesn’t honda use turbochargers at least on their sports cars?
I understand Honda is committed to staying green and of course being reliable, but why haven’t they used turbo on any production cars? They have Honda NSX, S2000, Acura RSX Type-S, TL Type-S. Is it just to say they have the fastest smallest liter naturally aspirated engines? If other car companies can make turbos and be fairly reliable I’m sure Honda can do it too and keep its reliable image. It seems they’re holding back.

A: yeah whatver you say t-14…thats why a normally aspirtated RSX-S is .4 seconds faster on the 1/4 mile than the turbocharged hyundai quatra 2.0T that has 80 more tq? or why its also faster than the 4.0L V6 mustang that has TWICE the displacement, 2 more cylinders, and nearly 100 tq more? yes, honda really sucks in comparison. btw, the 5 seconds it took you to type up that post made you miss the short bus.

when comparing I4s, honda can accomplish with NA what other companies have to use turbo for… so why not? honda does have one turbocharged motor, the k23a1 which is in the acura RDX (a SUV). NA is what honda knows and does well, even though their engines work very well with turbos (such as the 1000WHP civic thats had stories about it in every import and tuner magazine out there…thats 250WHP per cylinder, ive yet to see another brand of motor boast that).

Q: Why doesn’t Acura make any convertibles (and coupes)?
Acura is a little different than other luxury brands. None of its cars have V8 engines or RWD. What bothers me the most is that Acura doesn’t have any ’sporty’ offerings for a brand that used to be quite sporty. Where’s the coupes and convertibles? What happened to the RSX and NSX? Those would have made good convertibles. Even the parent company Honda only offers one convertible, the S2000. Is Honda against lowered tops or something?

A: Honda simply feels that there isn’t enough of a market to justify putting in the research and development costs to create these. The S2000 is a nice car, but it isn’t enough to hold the company afloat. Designing their Civic, Accord, etc to be better is, in their opinion, going to help them in the long run rather than developing a sporty high performance car, since for every sports car, they sell loads of people movers. They developed the NSX, and it lasted about 15 years. They are going to release a new car, based on the prototype ASCC, and it may have a convertible option, who knows.

Q: Help me with this differential problems?
Please help me to solve the following problems using integral (not using the theory from physics or so whatever)

1. An Acura NSX going at 70mph stops in 157 feet. Find the
acceleration, assuming it is constant.

2. On the moon, the acceleration due to gravity is about 1.6
m/sec^2 (compared to g = 9.8 m/sec^2 on earth). If you drop a
rock on the moon (with initial velocity 0), find formulas for:
a. it’s velocity, v(t), at time t
b. the distance, s(t), it falls in time t.

A: Vf^2=2*a*d+Vi^2
0=2a(47.85m)+4900
a= -51.0m/s^2

a) Vf= (-1.6m/s^2)t
b) X=1/2(-1.6m/s^2)t

Q: Out of these cars, which would make the best first car?
Before you go on ignoring these cars I feel like suggesting, please don’t go on recommending Japanese cars like Toyota Corollas, Honda Accords and Civics, Ford Focuses, etc, because I have a strong dislike for most of the models produced from these manufacturers.

I’m 17, and I’m looking for a luxury sporty coupe that offers a high level of prestige. I’m pretty much obsessed with Mercedes and BMWs, and that’s pretty much the standard level of cars in my town, since many people here view Mercedes and BMWs as the norm.

I’m looking for a used car for around $15-20k that would fit my criteria and would have a unique styling to impress friends or have people turning heads.

2006 Ford Mustang V6:

http://tinyurl.com/2g9n44

1995 BMW 840ci:
http://tinyurl.com/2c33eo
(I’m obsessed with the car’s unique combination of style, performance, and luxury, along with the fact that you don’t see these cars every day.)

2001 BMW 330ci:

http://tinyurl.com/34e7vv

1991 Acura NSX:
http://tinyurl.com/2q8dzn
I realize there are other costs to worry about here as well, such as insurance, scheduled maintenance repairs, and gas, but the fact that I have a well paying job that gives me about $1000 a month let’s me cover those bases with little or no problem.

And based on past driving experiences with other cars, I can say that I am not a reckless driver whatsoever, and I don’t drink. I know there’s still risk at hand, but I believe I am up to the task of being able to handle a car of my own.
You have to be an idiot thinking that I would make that mistake about Fords being a Japanese manufacturer. I wanted to list my dislike of Fords in a separate sentence, but due to the character limit, I felt like putting it in the same sentence, and believing that everyone would have the common sense to tell that little error apart. Apparently not.

As for “performance mattering” you’re just putting words in my mouth. I never said it mattered, I just commented on the performance one of the cars being a plus. Besides, an 05-06 V8 Ford Mustang would be out of my price range.

A: I’d go with the 2001 BMW 330ci. Its just an excellent ride. But the best thing to do is just drive all of them and pick the one you like best.

Q: 2001 Mitsubishi eclipse turbo question?
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse and i want to add a turbo to it, i have had this car for 3 years and im getting a acura nsx, im going to use the eclipse as a show/drag car at my local drag strip, i want this car to be able to handle up to 12 pounds of boost but i dont want to spend a whole lot of extra cash than whats necessary to complete the build. if it will be too costly to build something to handle 12 pounds of boost, what is my next best option?

A: well let me tell ya. i own a 2002 eclipse myself and I’ve done the research. it is wayyyy expensive to make a custom turbo kit for the car because there are no kits out there for the v6 engine. if you have a 4 cyl it’ll still cost a lot but it is easier. if i were you my best bet would be to sell the 3g eclipse and get a 2g gs-t or gsx. those already come with all the turbo parts and you can buy a turbo upgrade to run 12 psi. otherwise, you’d have to buy new injectors, pistons, valves, manifolds, etc for your eclipse (because it was intended to be NA

Q: Which car would you pick?
Which car would you pick that would be a second car and mostly used on the track, and the occasional city driving (like once a week)

NIssan 350z
Porsche 911 (996)
Acura NSX
Chevrolet Corvette (base not Z06)

The reason these cars are chosen is because their prices are similar. That’s why I didn’t include the Z06.

A: I’d most likely pick up Porche 911 (996) and Acura NSX since both are almost simlilar and look wise are truly good not too bulky either have good aerodynamics also are great sports cars but I think the turbo porsche has is incomparable to either of the cars u’ve listed and since u say the price of all the cars u’ve mentioned are similar then I’d go for either of these cars I’ve mentioned yet my first choice will be porsche due to the speed and lightness of the vehicle, it makes it ideal to drive once in a week with full on hard core speed lol wat say once a week u can truly race to ur hearts content and it’s done with porsche no better then that

Q: Help Me With This Integral Problems?
1. If a car goes from 0 to 80mph in six seconds with constant
acceleration, what is that acceleration.
2. An acura NSX going at 70 moh stops in 157 feet. Find the
acceleration, assuming it is constant.

PLEASE SOLVE THIS PROBLEMS USING THE DEFINITION OF INTEGRAL AND DIFFERENTATION ONLY, NOT USING THE SPEED,ACCELERATION, AND VELOCITY THEORY.

A: acceleration=rate of change of velocity
=80*5280/3600*6ft/sec^2
=19.6 ft/sec^2

2.0=(70*5280/3600)^2-2f(157)
314s=67.1ft/s^2

Q: Differential Equations?
Help me to solve these three problems:

1.If a car goes from 0 to 80mph in six seconds with constant
acceleration, what is that acceleration?
2.An Acura NSX going at 70mph stops in 157 feet. Find the
acceleration, assuming it is constant.
3.A car going 80ft/sec (about 55 mph) brakes to stop in five
seconds. Assume the deceleration is constant. Find the total
distance traveled using antidifferentiation.

A: 1.
Convert 80 mph to feet per second: 80 * 5280 / 3600 = 117.333

a = (Vf – Vo) / t  = (117.333 – 0) / 6 = 19.556 ft /sec^2

2.

Convert 70 mph to feet per second: 70 * 5280 / 3600 = 102.667

Vf^2 = V0^2 – 2*a*d

0 = 102.667^2 – 2*a*157

10540.44 = 314 a

a = 33.57 ft / sec^2

3. a = (Vf – Vo) / t = 80 / 5 = 16 ft/sec^2

V = 80 – 16t

Integrate that equation from 0 to 5

80t – 8t^2 = 80 * 5 – 8*25 = 200 ft

Q: Is this right or am I crazy?
Ok so a Honda nsx not Acura, Honda, is very rare but you can literally google Honda nsx for sale and I found a crap ton used, cheap, and low (depends on which one you look at) miles. I found a 91 I believe for 21 G’s with only 205 miles!!!

A: yep!

you’re crazy!

Q: Why are goods cheaper to purchase in the USA?
Even as a dual citizen, I’m still no clearer why this is the state of play.

e.g. this laptop (I now have to wait to purchase when I’m next stateside) is 840 ish pounds.

Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115679

In the UK, with THAT graphics card & processor, is like 1200 pounds.

I used to purchase all my Honda NSX parts there too (Acura over there but parts the same), for the same reason. I would have shipped an Acura if it had not been too much trouble to change left hand drive to right hand drive – and I did make enquiries!

And I’ll not even go into my extravagant hi-fi expenditure over the years….but safe to say ALL of it was imported, even cables.

So why why why???

Thanks in advance for your answers.
EDIT – I hardly belive VAT alone can justify the price differences we face.

A: Welcome to rip off Britain………….

Q: Which turbocharger is the best for me?
I have a 2006 acura RL and I fell like it could use a little more power. I have just begun researching turbocharger kits. I am pretty much clueless though as to which turbocharger or turbocharger kit I should get. Here are the three main things I have come up with so far:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBOCHARGER-TURBO-KIT-ACURA-MDX-NSX-RDX-RL-RSX-DC5-00-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZYearQ3a2006Q7cMakeQ3aAcuraQ7cModelQ3aRLQQitemZ150467993575QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170474029179&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=c1af8f9f1250a0b58fc1e151ff7c1c07&rvr_id=127594292463&ua=WXI7&itemid=170474029179

http://www.yourhotcar.com/prod/HKS/Performance_Parts/Turbo_Charger_Kit/Universal_HKS_GT3037S_Ball-Bearing_Turbocharger/807788/

I really don’t want to spend the 2500 on a single turbocharger when it doesn’t include anything else. Are the two 500 dollar turbocharger kits going to give me enough power (This is a guess, maybe a second off of my 0-60) or should I simply go all out and buy the 2500 turbocharger and go to a performace shop to get the rest of the equipment I need.

(Or should I simply go to a performance shop and get everything there and avoid all of this)

I am really looking to get the maximum bang for my buck. Thanks.
Also, how much would the installation cost?

A: Go to a performance shop.

Turbo’s are a science not a hobby, there is so much involved in fitting a turbo to an engine. It’s not just a matter of bolting it on and away we go.

Q: What do you think about honda engines compared with german engines?
i mean its the biggest engine manufacturer in the world!!!! Many people say that german engines are way better than japanese. I believe that japanese engines have higher technology in there cars before german ones, like the nsx, s2000, hsv 10. And one thing that i like about honda’s tech is that they dont use turbocharged engines on ther commercial cars (civic si, accord coupe, s2000 only on the acura rdx), they really don’t need to do that instead they use normal compressed engines. am i right????

A: Germans manufacture the finest cars in the world, maybach, merc, bmw, porshe… etc. you can’t compare the maybach quality with mitsubishi, or daihatsu, or the merc liability with susuki or izuzu… as someone told before me, you just can’t compare pears with apples.

Q: My Brand New Toyota Tacoma Has a lean in it. How to get it fixed?
My new tacoma leans about an inch to the drivers side only in the bed….. It is very obvious and everyone noticed it right away. So I took it in to get it fixed and they are saying that there is no lean when they level the vehicle out, ( all the measurments are the same)however I can still see it and It is very obvious when the vehicle is not perfectly level ( like 95% of the time when I’m driving). I sat in there and argued with them for an hour and they just kept playing stupid like nothing was wrong with it. The fact is there is something wrong with the truck that is making it lean like that. Anybody have any recomendations on what I should do next??? Like who to see at the dealership or what to do? I am furious and want to resolve this, just not sure how.

A: HAHA

Q: What is the best stratedgy for a first timer on buying a new Toyota Tacoma at the dealership?
I have good credit and a job. I am just not great at wheeling and dealing in other words I couldn’t sell Gold for free. So how do I not get swindled when buying a new vehicle especially at the dealership?

Doesn’t the consumer have the upper hand at this point economically and how do I use it?

A: Contact the franchise manager of several dealerships in your area.

Call ahead and let them know you’re serious about buying & ask what their best price is. You can call, email, or send a fax, but definitely try more than one dealership. Beware of sales people who talk payments…your primary goal is to get the lowest possible price with the lowest possible interest rate on the loan. Also, know the value of the vehicle and find out what others are paying in your area through edmunds.com or kelly blue book kbb.com

Q: Is now a good time or a bad time to buy a new Toyota Tacoma?
It seems like the sales are good right now, but how bad is the economy going to get? If it’s really, really bad, then buying a new car seems stupid. Thoughts?

A: Its never a bad time to buy an American built truck. The Tacoma’s are excellent compact pickup trucks and it will last a lot longer than a GM, Ford, or Dodge.

I don’t own a Tacoma, I own a new Tundra and I love it, I’ve had it for about a year and a half and haven’t had a single problem with it. So I would expect that you wouldn’t have any issues with the Tacoma either.

I used to be a Ford guy until the “Big 3″ started asking for bailouts, their service went to hell, and the reliability of the vehicles went to hell too.

Any of the above posters actually go look at a Ford, GM, or Dodge lately, bet you they’re built in Mexico, or Canada, or if they happen to be one of the few still built in the US, I bet all the parts come from Japan, Mexico, China, Korea, Hong Kong, Italy, etc. They’re no more American than any other vehicle.

I just bought a 2008 Toyota Tundra a little over a year ago like I mentioned above and it was built in San Antonio Texas.

To the above posters go look at your current vehicle and find out which foreign country you just supported.

Buy the Toyota you won’t regret it, and you’ll never go back to a Ford, GM, or Chrysler product.

Q: New Toyota Tacoma or New Honda Ridgeline?
Soon I will be buying a new truck, and I cut down my options to these two trucks. I need you to tell me which truck you think is the best and persuade me with your reason why you choose it, and back it up with some resources.
Oh and the new truck will be transporting a family of 5. (2 full grown teenagers and 1 child) Just in case if you were asking.
Sorry I keep adding additional details, but the truck won’t be used it to tow stuff, just carry items that need additional space.

A: We bought a Tacoma. I rode better than the Ridgeline and we have had Toys forever. It felt better in the cab and when in the back, it felt like there was more room. Resources are my own experience.

Q: What is a reasonable or “average” APR/interest rate for a new Toyota Tacoma? What kind of rate do you have?
What type of new car do you drive?

A: average is like 9-12%.

if you have great credit (over FICO 690) then you can get 5.99% from Capitalone.com

Q: Whats your opinion about buying a new toyota tacoma 4×2 vs buying a 4×4?
I live in northeastern Massachusetts and have been debating whether four wheel drive is worth the extra money? I have a 1988 Nissan 4×4 truck. I only use the four wheel drive in the winter. I have been considering the extra weight, maintenance and costs against the benefits. I know when we have snows i would feel safer with four wheel drive. There is about a $4000 difference between the 4×4 vs the 4×2. I have also been thinking about how it might effect it’s resale value even if i plan on keeping it a long time ( maybe keep it as long as i’ve had my 1988 Nissan truck).
We have a lot of salt up here and the frame has serious rot, so i can’t keep my Nissan truck. I have really loved the truck and wish i could keep driving it! I think i’m going to donate it to the cancer society.
Don’t they put an undercoat at the factor on new vehicles? when i buy the new Tacoma i was going to skip the offer if asked.

A: I would always go for the 4×4. But it really depends how you are going to use the truck, and where you are going to use the truck. I have a 4×4 Ford Ranger, and like you, i mostly use 4 wheel drive only during the winter. But there have been a few situations where I’ve gotten stuck, and 4 wheel drive has saved me. And you also have to understand, that when you dont have a load in the back of your truck, traction is considerably less than normal, 4 wheel drive can help you keep thte truck under control in those situations.

Q: Do I buy a new Toyota Tacoma truck or a used Dodge Diesel so I can use alternate fuel, biodiesel?

A: bio diesel does not burn well in normal use Toyota Tacoma is efficient and will last 4 ever the 4 cylinder tacoma does not have great torque but can run on fumes

Q: I’m deciding whether to get a used 05 Mustang Gt or a new toyota tacoma w/ sport package.justwantsomeopinions.?
I like the trucks because i have to carry my dirt bike and quad around occasionally. I also like the mustang because its affordable and sporty.

A: A Mustang was the worst rental car I’ve ever had. It felt both loose and harsh (ride) at the same time. Based upon that experience, I’d never buy one. I’ve had a Tacoma for almost nine years and it is a very reliable, solid, and useful truck. I’ve 4×4′d it pretty hard a few times, in addition to mostly commuting in it and occasionally hauling things, and it still keeps going. 175k miles with no major problems. I’d be the newer ones are even nicer.

Q: has anyone put a performance chip in a new toyota tacoma? and do they work?
do you get better gas mileage? better performance or are they just a big farce? thanks

A: It is garbage. Save your money.

Q: How low can I go with a deal on a new 2010 Toyota Tacoma?
MSRP is $29,500. Asking $24,000 for it. Is this possible? I don’t want to get ripped off by the salesman.

A: They are asking $24,000 or you are?

Of course $24,000 is possible. But you don’t mention what model, 2WD or 4WD, Standard, Extended Cab or Crew Cab.

All these things will effect the price.

So based on what you said, yes it’s very possible. But there’s no telling if you are getting ripped off or not.

Q: Is there a way to put cruise control on a new Toyota Tacoma that doesn’t have it?

A: There are after market cruise systems out there. Check and see.

Q: Looking for new Toyota Tacoma Extra cab Prerunner or TRD Version?
I am looking for a brand new Toyota Tacoma it can be an 09 or 2010 Toyota Tacoma Extra Cab Prerunner or possibly TRD for $23,000 out the door. I want it have back windows to be factory tinted already. Now that I am starting my new job I need a truck. Any suggestions or recommended dealers?
I forgot to mention anywhere in San Diego I would buy from as long as I could find my a new Tacoma for that price out the door

A: just search dealersips on toyota.com and call them all and tell them exactly what you want and let them find it for you.
and i gaurantee you some guy that says “combat vetran” in his source box will tell you that they rust and toyota kills babies or something like that, don’t listen, he is just a cranky old man that i sad because his chevy isn’t cool anymore

Q: What is better the new Toyota tacoma or the new toyota fj cruiser???

A: don’t put a lot of time into answering, he never picks a best.

Q: Would you buy a new Toyota Tacoma right now in the middle of all this recall madness?
Apparently I haven’t been watching the new lately because last night I purchased a 2010 Tacoma. I have to go in Saturday to finish the paperwork up. I just heard all this news today and am freaking out now. I know the tacoma isn’t part of the sticking gas pedal recall only the floor mat one (they fastened the floor mats to the ground so they don’t slide around and are no where near the gas pedal, personally I think they should have been that way in the first place). Anyways the mats are my worry. Even though the Tacoma is not included in this new recall, Toyota vehicles in general are scaring me. I have been doing a lot of research online but they are so dang vague. I do know that its somewhat of a wear and tear thing and that if there is a problem with the newer models they shouldn’t be affected for a while and by then can be replaced when they come up with a solution(apparently in april) What would you all do…back out of it on Saturday or keep it??
The tocoma fit what I needed its not a full size but has 4 doors and enough room inside for big car seats, the long bed for our desert toys, & I wanted a 4×4. I personally would have had no problem going with the nissan frontier but my husband didnt like it. I always thought Toyota had a good reliable rep. and theyre not the first car co. to have dangerous recalls. …I just cant shake this sick feeling in my stomach even with tylenol pms its taking me hours to fall asleep. Im worried they wont take it back.

A: I wouldn’t get too worried, but for sure I would wait it out for a couple days and see what happens. I think some of the answers *maybe 1 or 2* are obviously strongly against toyota by how their urging you to go to an american company dealership now that this is the first major problem toyota had with their cars, and its their only opportunity to have negative feedback to use on toyota. To be perfectly honest, I think you should still get the toyota. Toyota/Lexus (lexus is a division of parent company toyota) take these things very seriously. My mom’s model of the Lexus ES 330 was thought to have the mat problem, and they quickly pinned down what year and specifics had the problem and handled it quickly, and they did offer free check to anyone concerned. They do take customers very seriously and don’t want to disappoint to avoid hurting that mostly good rep. I think in the longrun you would appreciate buying the Toyota truck because it will more than likely hold great value and the long run reliability will be much greater. Even though the pedal thing is scary now, many will not deny the Toyota assembly and quality control has higher standards than many other standard economy car manufacturers. Good luck with the deal! I hope everything works out and you get the car you want!

Q: Does any one have a new generation Toyota Tacoma ?
I am considering a Extra cab 4×4 4cyl. with a manual transmission. Wondering what kind of miles per gallon to expect.

A: The answer is 21-27 mpg with that truck that is what the Toyota site list at you can go to Toyota.com and go to trucks and look at specs and get mileage for all. I have the same truck 2007 4×2 and mileage is very close to spec. Any questions e-mail me.

Q: New Camaro?
Does anyone know if or when they are going to come out with the new Camaro? The proto type looked sweet, like a Camaro should. Even though nothing replaces the original. I was just wondering if you knew if they were going to produce it, and what kind of price range it will be in.

A: It is a good possibility that it will hit the showrooms in ‘07. The price range will most likely be competitive with the Mustang & the Challenger.

Q: new camaro?????
wat do u guys think of the new chevy camaro
i think the style is kinda wack!

also the new chevelle’s design is..like…wierd
i wish they would keep the same style(the 69-70 chevelle and camaros style was like a square design if u think about it, the new ones are like sleek and has curves;yo me that looks stupid!)

wats ur opinion about the new camaro and chevelle?

A: i ‘m glad its not a retro car it wasn’t meant to fully resemble 69 i love my 69 camaro and firebirds but i think the new camaro will be hit

Q: How much does the new camaro cost?
Hey all, does anyone out there have a clue about how much the new chevy concept camaro is going to be running for? It’s a BEAUTIFUL car! I heard it was about 45 Grand for the SS? Just curious. Thanks guys!

A: Chevy estimates the MSRP to start at $25K and up……..you do need to understand however that chevy has yet to name a release date and still professes the camaro to be just a concept with no plans for production!!

Q: How can I rent a new Camaro for cheaper than the prices Budget or Avis have online?
My guys birthday is on the 31st and I want to get him something really nice. He’s really into cars, and is always talking about renting the Camaro. We are going to a friends wedding in San Diego in December and I think he would love it for the drive from Phoenix, Arizona to San Diego, California. Has anyone found a way to rent a new Camaro for cheaper than what Budget/Avis are offering (Priceline, Expedia, etc.)?

A: You are limited to what the rental companies have, and no other sources…if you are going to rent, do so as far in advance as you can as those vehicles will have a lot of people wanting to rent them, and double check they have the vehicle at their lot the day before you go – they sometimes pull the old ” we don’t have any now, even though you reserved one, but one may come in today, tomorrow, etc”

Q: What song is played in Transformers when Bumblebee Upgrades himself to the new Camaro?
Right when Bumblebee kicks Sam and Megan Fox out he upgrades into the new Camaro and when he comes around they start playing a little bit of this song..what is the name of the song?

Its catchy

A: It should be “Battle Without Honor or Humanity” by Tomoyasu Hotei

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnfFTVjRpLI

Q: When is that new Chevy Camaro supposed to come out?
I was at the car show last year and saw the new camaro, I was wondering if anyone knew when it was coming out?

A: OMG only one person got it right bob lutz’s last press release stated that it will be a 2009 model and will hit the dealership in the fall of 2008. now that doesn’t mean that is in stone they really are trying to get it to dealers sooner because the mustang is eatin up all the sales so the sooner the camaro comes out they think the sales will be better

Q: Is the new Camaro in jeopardy since GM is having a lot of financial trouble?
I’m very worried that the new Camaros won’t come out in early 2009, since GM (and all the other big car companies) is having financial problems.

Will the current sitcheeation interfere with the new Camaro coming out?

A: It is not in jeopardy at all … As already driven a few, the schedule is on target, and man… what a car … the 6.2L is totally awesome, and the quality is second to none

Q: Is the new Camaro a good looking car?
The new Camaro is set to be released as a 2009 model. What do you all think about the styling of this car? I’m not referring to engine performance, price, or anything other than how it looks.

A: http://automotive-links.mustangv8.com/RSS-directory/coppermine/displayimage/album=8/pid=17.html

Boooooring.

Q: Will the new 2010 Camaro still come out even if GM goes bankrupt?
I want to get the new Camaro, but what happens if GM goes bankrupt? Will it be over for them or will the Chrysler thing happen?

A: The new Camaro is already out…some people have their ordered vehicles already.

…also, GM if filing from bankruptcy protection, not actual bankruptcy….HUGE difference. They’re going to be fine, you’re not at any risk by buying a GM product right now.

Q: When will the new 2009 Chevy Camaro Concept be available for ordering?
I gradaute this in June and my family is buying me a brand new car for my graduation gift. I really wanna know, when will the new Camaro be out? Ive been tracking BEFORE Transformers even came out so no I dont want it jus because I seen it off Transformers lol. Will it be out by time I graduate??

A: The chevy camero comes out early 2009. Not late 2008, that is the dodge charger!

Q: What Muscle car do you like, The new Challenger or Camaro?
Myself i have always been a mopar man but in the case i will say Chevy did a Great Design on the new Camaro. What do you think?

A: I am a 2008 Bullitt Mustang owner and I like the Challenger much better than the Camaro as far as for looks. The Camaro has an awful interior and very poor visibility. The Challenger is better done design wise in my opinion. I think I’ll keep my Mustang though.

Q: Question about the size of a new Challenger or Camaro steering wheel?
Hello, currently I have a 1999 Camaro and love the small tilt wheel. Anyone that ever has had a car like an IROC or z28 knows what Im talking about.

Im saving up to get either the new Challenger or new Camaro. I have never been in any of them and want to know, is the steering wheel small and tilt like the one I have in my 99 Camaro, or big and uncomfortable.

I was reading somewhere that they were big…….

A: the steering wheel is a nice size, and i have the new one its internal red and i love it , i get so many compliments on it!!! i wouldnt trade it for nothing

Q: New camaro???
I was wondering if anyone knew when it is coming out, and how much it is gonna cost?

A: GM will announce a date soon and then not meet it and when it comes out it will be anything but a Camaro ( watered down Vette or just not worth the money ) They have a real poor record on performance cars these days ( cept the vette )

Q: How much would insurance cost on a brand new camaro ?
it’s a brand new camaro the simple one not the hard core power one. ihavve a great drivingg record, currently havve statefarm, &&past teenage years. thankk you((:

A: Find your local agent from Yellow page, and make a call to them, they should have good suggestions for you.

Q: What would be a good way to advertise the better build quality of the new Camaro?
The new Camaro is coming out soon, and I’m pretty pumped. However, even though from what I hear, the quality will be much better than any before. But not everyone will know this, and if they still think the Camaro is the same as before, they might be very wrong. How could GM advertise the Camaro to show that it has better build quality now? Taglines, pictures, video; what would be some good scenarios to put this in the eye of the public? Thanks for any help!

Sorry, I had to rerun the question, I put the first one in the wrong place.
